Author's Note: I've noticed that everything in Jekyll and Hyde is uncertain and that everyone in the story is always under suspicion. Along with that, I have also noticed that everything never works out like one wants it to and that almost nothing goes according to plan.

In chapter 8 of Jekyll and Hyde, Lanyon has found himself in an awkward situation, he must bring strange components to Jekyll or else Jekyll will parish and Lanyon will have to live with the guilt. Not only Lanyon, but everyone and everything is uncertain in this chapter. There is no telling what is going to happen and the whole situation is volatile. What seems to be a simple, yet strange, task turns into a completely different thought for Lanyon, he would have never expected this from Jekyll. The people aren't the only things that are uncertain, the book that was filled with the dates, experiments, and failures symbolizes the entirety of the uncertainty of the situation and the past as well. Within the past 20 years everything has been uncertain, ever since it stated in chapter 1 that the theater doors had been closed for over 20 years I have known that there was a story behind that. Jekyll is uncertain that he would get the correct formula for him to stay in decent condition and Utterson, although not in this chapter, is unsure of the standing situation regarding Hyde and Jekyll, along with the documents that he discovered upon the suicide of Hyde, everything seems to be completely segregated from the other pieces and nothing seems to connect or make any sense.
